Open Studios 2018
Saturday 8th - Sunday 23rd September 2018
EVENT GUIDE OUT NOW!
Devon Open Studios is a unique opportunity to meet artists in their studios in some of the most beautiful, unexplored parts of Devon. In addition to being able to buy art direct from the creator, many demonstrate, give talks or give you a chance to have a go.
A cornucopia of art is on offer across Devon when over 200 resident artists and crafts people open their studios to show and sell their individual artworks to the public each September. The diversity of studios is remarkable; as here you can explore venues ranging from potter’s studios in meadows to medieval barns, sinuous sculpture gardens or garrets by the sea. These hidden havens reveal fascinating work in every medium that allows the opportunity to purchase affordable art, directly from the artist, and without gallery commission.
Venture out on self-guided art tours using our free full colour event guide or just by spontaneously following the yellow arrows scattered about the countryside. Meet the artists, participate in workshops and events, or simply create your own journey of discovery in this most spectacular landscape.
Registration for artists wishing to take part in Open Studios 2018 is now closed. Artists wishing to take part next year will first need to become members of Devon Artist Network, apply here. All members will be notified in January when registration for Open Studios 2019 opens. Please note that all artists taking part in Devon Open Studios, must be individual members of DAN.
The event guide is available from the beginning of August in Devon Libraries, Tourist Information Centres and arts and community venues across the county.
Changes to the Advertised Programme
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Ruth Oakley (Venue 27, Parliament St, Crediton) is not participating in this year's event. Our apologies for any incovenience this may cause.
Due to unexpected local roadworks making venue access difficult, Anne Townsend, Venue 39 (Broom Lane, Tytherleigh, Axminster) regrets that she will have to close her venue from 16-24 September inclusive. She will be open as advertised on 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15 September.
"We thoroughly enjoy visiting artists in their studios, particularly if they are working at the time. The standards this year are excellent.” Visitor
