Devon Open Studios

10 - 25 September 2022

Devon Open Studios is a unique opportunity for artists to open their studios to the public and registration opens soon

The registration portal for this year's Devon Open Studios will be open very soon. If you are an artist and looking for information, then this is what you need to know. Due to the huge increase in DAN membership since we announced plans for an exciting new members’ website in February,  more artists are eligible to take part in Devon Open Studios than ever before. Existing members will get an email as soon as we open the registration portal. In the meantime, we’ve emailed you some guidance notes to help you get ready for registration. Only current DAN members are eligible for Devon Open Studios, so if you have friends and colleagues who are hoping to take part, please ask them to join DAN as soon as possible. Last year we sadly had to turn down around 20 artists and groups whose registrations reached us after the closing date. Register as early as possible to secure your place.

New to Devon Open Studios? We will support you every step of the way to prepare for a successful event. We provide training and resources to help all participants promote their open studio.

If you haven’t got a venue, or have a venue to share then now is the time to make connections. If you have space to offer, or are looking for space to share, please write a short paragraph with details we can share on your behalf and send to, including

  • Your name, location, your practice, email address/ phone number, website/social media link if available.
  • If you have space to share, please include a few details about the space and type of work you’d consider.
  • If wishing to share, please include the location(s) you would prefer or consider.
  • We will share your details to members in our newsletter and on Facebook. Arrangements will be made direct between sharers.

If you are an art lover looking for a great September full of creative and interesting people and places, then a cornucopia of art will be waiting for you across Devon again this year. Over 200 resident artists and crafts people open their studios to show and sell their individual artworks to the public each September. The diversity of studios is always remarkable; you can explore venues ranging from potter’s studios in meadows to medieval barns, sinuous sculpture gardens or garrets by the sea. These hidden havens reveal fascinating work in every medium that allows the opportunity to purchase affordable art, directly from the artist, and without gallery commission.

Venture out on self guided art tours using our free full colour event guide or just by spontaneously following the yellow arrows scattered about the countryside. Meet the artists, participate in workshops and events, or simply create your own journey of discovery in this most spectacular landscape.

Visit our Open Studios website for in depth information, mapping and more stunning images! Nearer the event you can pick up a printed guide in Tourist Information Centres, shops, pubs and various locations, or View a PDF of the NEW 2021 Guide here.

"We thoroughly enjoy visiting artists in their studios, particularly if they are working at the time. The standards this year are excellent.”   Visitor
