Take part in Devon Open Studios 2019!

Registration is now open for artists and makers who wish to take part this year. Simply log in with your DAN membership details and register your venue details on the Open Studios Registration page on the main menu.
Artists wishing to take part need to be current individual members of Devon Artist Network, apply here. All individual members of DAN are eligible to take part in Devon Open Studios. For more details see our Guidelines and Fees Information.
Devon Open Studios is a unique opportunity to meet artists in their studios in some of the most beautiful, unexplored parts of Devon. In addition to being able to buy art direct from the creator, many demonstrate, give talks or give you a chance to have a go.
A cornucopia of art is on offer across Devon when over 200 resident artists and crafts people open their studios to show and sell their individual artworks to the public each September. The diversity of studios is remarkable; as here you can explore venues ranging from potter’s studios in meadows to medieval barns, sinuous sculpture gardens or garrets by the sea. These hidden havens reveal fascinating work in every medium that allows the opportunity to purchase affordable art, directly from the artist, and without gallery commission.
Venture out on self-guided art tours using our free full colour event guide or just by spontaneously following the yellow arrows scattered about the countryside. Meet the artists, participate in workshops and events, or simply create your own journey of discovery in this most spectacular landscape.
The event guide is available from the beginning of August in Devon Libraries, Tourist Information Centres and arts and community venues across the county.

Bursary for Artists and Makers
The Emerging Artist Bursary aims to nurture and encourage new talent to take the next steps in their career by helping to fund their participation in this prestigious annual open studios event.
The bursaries are aimed at those taking their first steps into professional arts practice, returning to creative practice after a career break or change, or currently taking their art in a new direction. Applicants must be based in Devon and have registered for Devon Open Studios 2019. Any art form will be considered.
Successful applicants will receive a bursary covering their entry fees for Devon Open Studios. One of the bursary winners will be selected for The Joanna Radford Award and receive a further £150 towards materials.
Application is by email and should include a CV and letter of up to 500 words outlining:
1. What aspect of your practice makes you eligible for an Emerging Artist Bursary.
2. What you hope to achieve during Devon Open Studios 2019.
3. How an Emerging Artist Bursary will help you to achieve this.
4. Your professional and artistic objectives for the next two years.
In addition to the above information, you will need to submit three images to support your application (images to be emailed or link provided to a relevant website).
