Looking at artists such as Paul Klee we will be using a limited pallet of primary colours and broad brushes to build up abstract compositions. Exploring hues that offer most transparency we will build up layers using the wet on dry technique, creating delicate overlapping shapes and exciting new colour mixes. Using a playful approach to watercolour you will gain an understanding of the unique qualities of different colour pigments and learn about staining, transparency and opacity. By the end of the weekend you will have filled a sketchbook with colour tests and ideas and produced some finished main abstract works on large sheets of watercolour paper.
