Shirley Kirkcaldy
I am a landscape artist inspired by wild and windswept places. Living on Dartmoor and surrounded by the southwest coastlines, colour, light and texture are elements that feature significantly in my work and form the foundation for what I aim to capture on canvas - an ‘intuitive response to a place and time’. Drawings made on location combine with materials in the studio to explore ideas and final images often move away from documentary and towards anonymity or ambiguity.
