Former woven textile designer, Sarah Gallifent, captures abstract images with coastal and plant inspired themes. By staying faithful to her textile tradition of colour, texture, pattern, light and movement, subjects are photographed by focusing on the linear features which weave through the fabric of the picture.
By paying attention to detail, Sarah uses the camera lens to isolate the object, extract it from its context and remove any indication of scale, resulting in a novel, abstract image that may tease and intrigue, stimulate and challenge the viewer's imagination.
"As a designer, I am constantly searching for naturally occuring combinations of colours, patterns, surfaces and rhythms.
I love to use photography to bring these extraordinary riches to the attention of others, especially the smallest of details, which may have otherwise been overlooked."
Sarah's unusual abstract photographs are available in an innovative collection of greeting cards and mounted prints.
