My artwork and painting enables me to get close to the landscape. Walking and being out in the elements has become an important part of the process. My interest in colour, texture and patterns in the natural environment encourages me to look in detail at trees and rocks etc. Discovering locations, often by chance, that excite and enthuse, are followed by several visits so that I can get to know the place, make sketches and take notes before returning to work in the studio.
