The Secret Life of Objects
'I have learned that what I have not drawn, I have never really seen... (Frederick Franck)'
The act of focusing and really 'seeing' elevates the most humble object. The drawing gives it status
and meaning, imbuing it with a greater significance and sometimes symbolic presence.
I like to draw objects slightly larger than their real size. Through studying how light defines forms and is absorbed and reflected on surfaces I attempt to reveal their essence.
My use of soft pastels allow me to capture the lusciousness or translucency of still objects. and materials by blending colour subtly and in layers.
