My name is Arthur Burge.
My hobby is model railway locomotive building to my own or published designs. they are either steam or electric and the guage is either 5", 7 1/4 or 10 1/4" sizes.
At the moment I am building a 5" guage electric locomotive and trailer coach as seen when the Central line was built from Shepherds Bush, London to Bank station in 1900. the pictures from which the designs are made are on the T F L museum site. The American loco pictured dates from 1875. I have completed most of the model which is a 101/4" guage size and made to my own design using old photos and old books on loco design.
To do this I have a comprehensive workshop comprising:- 1 small 31/2" and 1 71/2" metal lathe, milling machine, drilling machine, metal bandsaw, arc and
oxy acetylene welding capability. Soft and silversoldering and Small sheet metalwork in brass, steel and aluminium undertaken.
I am an electronics engineer also. I designed the motor control gear for the electric loco mentioned above. My main expertise is Audio an Video,
my last job was at Exeter college repairing and servicing the wide rage of equipment and designing special equipment such as a stop frame animation outfit for the media dept. I also designed equipment for Exeter model boat club such as a
playback amlifier using an ISD chipcorder for starting the boat race.
