Mooring Necklace

Amy’s new ‘Mooring’ collection of earrings and necklaces are inspired by rusty rings and weathered sea glass. The rings are hand modelled in wax first and retain her maker’s marks on the surface from the process of glass casting. They are combined with hand-woven hemp cord as a nod to Plymouth’s Nautical heritage as one of three rope making sites in the UK.

Amy Whittingham

Amy is inspired by liminal space, geometric forms and textural surfaces, empowering process and makers marks. Casting these in coloured glass to highlight the detail and depth of overlooked objects. Creating wearable glass jewellery combined with silver, brass and handwoven hemp cord as a nod to Plymouth's coastal heritage. As a specialist in mould making for glass, Amy is also casting highly textured glass panels with a view to creating larger scale sculptures, based on walls and windows.
