A Thousand Names for Joy 2
I love to paint 'en plein air', immersing myself in the fleeting, elemental, sensory qualities of light and colour, to capture the pulse & poetics of the Devon land, coast & seascapes. Catching the mystical exuberance abundant in these wild places, I aim to evoke these often subtle sometimes powerful qualities, the vitality and zest of life, in my paintings. Using oil paints and mixed media with whatever is at hand frees me up to spontaneously evoke joyful, poetic and exuberant moments wherever I find “ A Thousand Names for Joy.”
Finalist in the Devon Life Landscape Artist of the Year 2018 competition. MA Fine Art. BA (Hons) Fine art. PG Diploma: Documentary Photography.
It doesn't have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few small stones; just pay attention, then patch
a few words together and don't try
to make them elaborate,
this isn't a contest but the doorway
into thanks, and a silence
in which another voice may speak.
