Yuli Somme

Yuli Somme makes marvelously mundane, but exquisitely desirable useful objects out of 100% wool felt. She makes hot water bottle covers, tea cosies, tuffets (to make a hard chair soft) and the Dartmoor hat, tested for warmth on Norwegian ski slopes! Occasionally she produces a wall hanging inspired by the natural world. She can work to commission and also has a small shop within her Chapel workshop in Moretonhampstead. Yuli also makes the award winning Leafcocoon, a unique ësoftí coffin - possibly the most environmentally sound coffin available in the UK. She has been a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen for over 25 years and has worked on the Big Hand Little Hand scheme. Her experiences in teaching felt making have been condensed into 2 felt making kits with DVDs which are available for individuals and schools.
