I was a student at the Central School of Speech and Drama in the early 70's and discovered the enchantment of colour while creating costume and theatre designs.
In the 80's I was in London lecturing in Theatre History and would slip away at lunch time and sit mesmerised inside the National Gallery asking myself, "How do they do this?"
I retired from teaching in 2013 and I have been lucky enough to live for the last 26 years in an isolated wild Devon valley where I work in my studio with water colour, oils and mixed media.
My emotional response to the natural beauty seen from the studio window finds expression in vibrant patterned oils and acrylics which I have also been selling and exhibiting locally. I seem to have many different styles but love the process of learning through trying things out.
Exhibiting at The Devon County Show and at Kennaway House Sidmouth has enabled me to find a new market for cards of my paintings and this in turn has encouraged me to keep on having fun with paint. I will be taking part in the Devon Open Studio event in 2015.
