A few words about my work. A thread through my work is a striving to make visible the magical spark of life in what we may experience as mundane, shed light on  the divine within the 'ordinary'. I select media and techniques that feel appropriate to an idea, seeking integrity of intention and material to create new expression. So I work with drawing, paint, textiles, installation, mosaic.. and am always exploring new media. On ethnic monitoring forms I am 'mixed-other'. I do not belong to a culturally defined box, and my work aims to transcend culturally confined definitions of 'self', exploring life and the experience of living in a synthesis of cultural languages and meanings. I organise and curate exhibitions exploring these ideas - more at -other-art.net. I often find inspiration in archetypal tales and folk art traditions from across the globe, and traditional materials of women's domestic creativity. -shanta.net I do many Education and Community Projects. I specialise in producing large scale collaborative pieces with both large and small groups of people. I focus on including every participant in every stage of a rewarding shared creative experience. These can be for permanent or temporary display both indoors or outdoors, with each project designed specifically for the needs of the participants and the site. I work with a whole range of materials to create wall or floor-based installations for interior spaces - whatever best suits the project and the participants - paint, papier-mache, felt collage, found objects, food........I also work with mosaic for outdoor installation, integrating traditional techniques with a more contemporary approach. In addition to school-based projects I have delivered, and coordinated programmes of gallery based workshops. I have led primary teachers practical hands-on INSET sessions on ways of using artists work to support art work with children. I have worked with ‘excluded’ teenagers, and for the last few years I have also been teaching adult drawing courses and evening classes.  -shanta.net/communityartsprojects
