A traditional fine art training in painting, printmaking and calligraphy at Guildford Schook of Art in the late 1950s was an excellent foundation for a lifetime of exploration - from textiles, jewellery, ceramics, glass mosaics and sculpture to digital scanner-photography. Nowadays I often work with reclaimed and found materials, especially toys - partly for the archetypal power of their imagery, and also from concern about the environmental impact of plastics and oil. In addition to public art and exhibiting, I teach a few short courses each year in my Harberton studio, run occasional community projects, and very much enjoy being part of many artist-led organisations.
