Impressionist wildlife, equestrian and canine artist, influenced heavily by the nature and the big outdoors.  I also love to paint plain air landsacpes and do the odd lino cut, all revolving around sketches drawn in the field both right on my doorstep and further afield.  Horses are a huge part of my work, they convey power, majesty and an inherent sensibility of freedom and I'm primarily interested in their movement and subtle niches in their relation to us using mainly charcoal to express that fluidity and bond.  My paintings of wildlife are foremost about the application of broad brushtrokes and striking light, whilst retaining a true sense of place and atmosphere.  I want people to feel the heat, cold, or tension of what is ultimately survival out in the big world, this to me is better acheived when using your imagination and recollection rather than plainly copying photographs - instinct then kicks in and you learn far more about an animal's make-up and it's nuances.
