Favell Bevan-Arti

Born in Kenya, Favell grew up with a love and respect for all natural life. She has travelled and lived in a variety of places ñ Italy, where she studied for her Diploma in Fine Arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Florence, Sweden, Finland and the U.S.A. She lived until 1997 in Northern Cyprus, where she achieved recognition for her work portraying local people and scenery. Her work is found in various public and private collections on the island. Favell finds the pastel medium ideal for capturing the unique characteristics of natural light. Pastels are made from pure colour pigments and are therefore the purest medium, ideal for rapid sketches or painting intense studies. In 1998 she moved to England and the West Country; she now lives in Sidmouth where the rich landscape and coastal scenery provides her with fresh inspiration and colours to be absorbed into her paintings. She has shown her work in local galleries and at various local exhibitions, where she has won several awards. Favell has exhibited in Italy, Kenya, Finland, North and South Cyprus and the UK. Her work is found in public and private collections around the world. 1991 Silver Award winner in ìWHALETAILî International Wildlife Exhibition, Nairobi, Kenya 2001 Featured in the Pastel Artist International Magazine 2012 Finalist in ìSeascapes and Riversî competition in the International Artist Magazine Oct/Nov issue.
