As an experimental watercolour and mixed media artist, my inspiration emerges from experiencing the magnificently rich tapestry of colour-drenched textures and evocative light and mood in our coast, countryside and the emotive world-wide vistas encountered whilst travelling.
“Whether it is the intensity of iridescent light on water or the power of a wave crashing on to rocks, the sensation of textures that demand touch, a shaft of light breaking through clouds or the ruggedness of our moors enveloped in dramatic climatic conditions, the dynamic but unpredictable nature of watercolour gives me the spontaneity to capture those fleeting, atmospheric moments in time that just take your breath away“
Motivated by the challenge of mixed media; dramatic skylines, ‘Pet Pawtrait’ commissions or waterside paintings are often in soft pastels but oils and acrylics provide energising alternatives particularly for marine collage paintings and textural landscapes.
“I am constantly excited by experimentation and love to mix media and techniques to create textural effects or encapsulate an explosion of emotion or memory.”
Creating textural intensity, mark-making and using organic inclusions influenced a new artistic journey into hand-made printmaking captured in monoprints, drypoints and limited edition collagraphs.
“I have been immersed in creativity since my early days in ceramics, oil painting and later in floral and garden design. My constant and absolute passion is making and sharing art and, as a fully qualified educator, I tutor exciting demonstrations and inspiring workshops. My artwork is collected nationally and internationally, I exhibit widely and am happy to accept commissions”
