Devon Artist Network (DAN) is an organisation that promotes, champions and supports the work of Devon based artists and makers. It was formed in 2004 and is now a company limited by guarantee managed by a Board of Directors and a committee of member artists. The network is artist-led which is reflected in the composition of the board, which is wholly artist run although we are beginning to find we need Board members with special professional and business skills. Membership is open to all artists who live and work in Devon. A new scheme of “Friends of Devon Artists Network” is being launched. Further details and application forms to join either section are available from firstname.lastname@example.org.
The idea for a network came from artists who had taken part in the Nine Days of Art open studios events organised by the STRAW Project (Skills Training & Rural Arts Week) and who wanted a way to meet and keep in contact with each other.
The organisation is run on a day-to-day basis by members of the Board. Special events are managed by volunteers with the exception of Devon Open Studios which is run under contract by a co-ordinator. Anyone reading this who feels they might have the kind of business and professional skills that would assist an arts organisation are urged to contact us as above.
Minutes of the AGM held on 20 October are available on the News page.
