Simon Ripley is a printmaker. He is co-founder of Exeter's Double Elephant Print Workshop. He is currently Associate Artist at Plymouth Derriford Hospital. Simon makes large scale, brightly coloured abstract monoprints using lino and wood cut. He prints his work on an 1850's Columbian 'Eagle' relief press. His work is printed on handmade Japanese papers and his technique gives his work a richly textured quality  - very unusual in printmaking. In many ways his prints are close to painting in their finish and substance.
