Home Page for Sarah Pressland
I drew before I could read or write but it wasn't until mid life that I was able to study for a Ba Hons in Fine Art, at Exeter College of Art and Design. I graduated in 1989. Since then painting has gradually become my language.I work with oil paint and like to use a limited range of colours mixing everything I need from those. I paint on prepared boards or canvas. I have many areas of interest including a life long passion for canals. I studied the figure extensively while I was at Art College, and gradually figures are appearing in my paintings. Many paintings are done in the studio from drawings developed from my extensive collection of photographs. However I love working from ‘life’ and as well as making tiny paintings out in the landscape, have fairly recently, started to work on ‘still lifes’ set up in the studio. I think of them as my ‘kitchen pictures’. I look forward to meeting you at my studio. | |
