Home Page for Julia Kelland
My work is fresh and unpredictable, creating striking and vibrant paintings. I transform ‘accidentals’ and realistic representations of wildlife, flowers, landscapes and still life into unique and colourful images. This process lends each piece a life of its own. Inspired by regular courses at West Dean College, Sussex and in Wales with Margaret Merritt, my work has grown in size and strength. I paint regularly in my studio in Totnes and with a group of exciting artists near London.I had two successful exhibition in Totnes in 2007 and 2008 when I sold paintings, prints, cards and glass worktop savers with my painting images on them. I have sold many paintings from my house and had several commissions. I was artist-in-residence at the the Nant Y Coy Gallery in Pembrokeshire and vistors enjoyed my new work at an exhibition there in May and June 2010. I have exhibited at the Delamore Gallery in Cornwood, Devon and at a solo exhibtion at the Flavel Centre in Dartmouth and I had very successful exhibitions at my home during DOS in 2009 and 2010 with over 350 vistors on each occasion. I am looking forward to opening my studio again during DOS 2012 where I will be showing many new paintings which I hope will generate the same interest as before. | |
